Account & Data Deletion
App: YouthOS — Visitor app (YouthOS Visitor)

This page explains how to request deletion of your account in the YouthOS visitor app and of the personal data associated with it.
1. Delete from inside the app (fastest)
Deletion is built into the app and takes effect immediately — you do not have to wait for a reply from us:
- Open the YouthOS app and sign in with your phone number and the one-time code sent to you by SMS.
- Go to the Profile tab (the last tab in the bottom navigation).
- Scroll to the “Data & privacy” section.
- Tap “Delete my account”.
- Read the warning and confirm with “Yes, delete my account”.
Your account is deleted immediately, you are signed out, and the access token issued to your device stops working right away. The action cannot be undone.
Before deleting, you can download a copy of your data from the same section — “Download my data”.
2. Delete by email (if you cannot access the app)
If you no longer have access to the phone number you registered with, send a request from the email address on your profile to privacy@youthcenter.bg with the subject “Account deletion”. Include the phone number and name you registered with so we can locate your record.
We handle such requests within 30 days of receipt, as required by Art. 12(3) GDPR. We may ask for additional information to verify your identity before deleting anything — this protects you against someone else deleting your account.
You can also make the request directly to the youth center you take part in: the center is the data controller for your personal data and its staff can carry out the deletion too.
3. What gets deleted
On deletion your profile is anonymized — your name is replaced with “Deleted visitor” — and the following data is permanently removed:
- phone number, email address, Instagram handle, home address, date of birth;
- any notes staff kept about you;
- your answers to the center’s additional profile fields (for example, city of residence);
- push-notification tokens for your devices;
- notes attached to your accommodation bookings, borrowed inventory items and volunteer record.
Once deleted, your account cannot be restored. If you come back later, you will create an entirely new account.
4. What is retained, and for how long
- An anonymized visitor record — an internal identifier with no identifying data is kept indefinitely so that other people’s records stay intact (for example, the number of participants at an event, or a center’s reported total volunteer hours).
- Consent records — kept indefinitely as evidence that consent was given and when, but flagged as belonging to a deleted account. This is an accountability requirement under Art. 5(2) GDPR.
- Accommodation bookings — the booking itself is kept as a financial/accounting record, but with no link to you and with the notes removed. The retention period follows Bulgarian accounting law (up to 10 years for accounting documents).
There is no additional grace period — we do not keep your deleted personal data hidden away so it can be restored later.
5. Automatic deletion after inactivity
Even if you never request deletion, your profile is anonymized automatically after 3 years with no activity of any kind (event sign-up, visit, booking, volunteer hours or inventory loan).
